Corrections/updates from last episode

  • Sony will not be charging for PS4 Pro Upgrades
  • Originated from an interview with Japanese site Game Impress Watch, in which Masayasu Ito was quoted as saying “It will be different for each title. I believe it will depend on the thinking of each licensee.” This was in response to “For the 4K HDR patch for existing titles, will it cost money” Or will it be free?”
  • An Absinthe games developer also noted that developers are not allowed to charge for these sorts of patches at all, even if they wanted to.
  • This was shot down by another, unnamed exec, stating that Sony “will not charge consumers for patches.”
  • In an interview at TGS with Andrew House, it was revealed that “many” PS4 Pro games will not be natively 4K

LONG FORM DISCUSSION - The deterioration of the gaming convention.

In recent years, gaming conventions such as E3, Gamescom and Tokyo Gaming Show have shown less and less support from the major video game companies.

With many of them holding their own events, i.e. the recent Playstation Meeting.

Is this the beginning of the end for the all inclusive gaming convention or can they rebound?
